(roșie hanging out with me in the bed… my favorite place to be! she doesn’t get to do that when mom is home so we had to capitalize on the opportunity… she’s pretty happy about it!)
earlier this month i went home to spend a few days with my dad (and ROSIE)… my mom was on her annual trip with her sorority sisters (they have been friends for over FIFTY years - so sweet.) dad and i like our father/daughter time when mom is away… we turn the heat right up, we eat chocolates at breakfast (after our scrambled eggs), we watch the news, we check the weather and we take a lot of naps. it turns out rosie likes to do all of these things too (except the chocolate - we did NOT give her any scotch mallows.)
(dad and i have been napping together for years… i am about nine years old here - i don’t know why we are on the floor)
we had a very relaxing schedule… i took the first walk shift with rosie because i am a rooster and dad is more of a teenager in terms of waking times. mom left me a hat with a light on it (like a minion) so i would be able to see rosie’s “sticks” and pick them up in the early morning dark. (rosie has PINK poop bags by the way - they match her harness and leash. mom has gone ALL IN on having a dog… rosie has a WARDROBE now!)
(roșie and me on our first walk of the day)
after our walk, rosie would have her breakfast. i have never seen a dog so excited to eat. she literally gets on her back legs and spins around dancing in anticipation until you put the bowl down. she looks like a tiny ballerina.

at this point dad would come to collect the paper and i might do a little work. rosie kept herself busy running back and forth “checking” on dad and me while we were in separate rooms.
we did more walks in the afternoon and also ran errands together to the bank, the post office, the gas station and the market. rosie came on all of these adventures, of course, all buckled into her special car seat. she is a very good companion in the car.

we also had to squeeze in some photo shoots - i wanted to see rosie in her halloween costume … she went as a rainbow! and i wanted to get some photos of her in her new pink, large scale gingham coat.
(rosie the rainbow… her fluffy little body is like a cloud… i think i enjoyed her costume more than she did - this is the saddest i’ve ever seen her look)
(roșie în her warm coat)
we always ate dinner early (we even had some guests over) and we all got right in our jams directly after eating. then we would retire to the TV room for a pre bed nap/news watching session. rosie likes to snuggle up on the fuzzy blanket in the middle of the sofa. it was such a peaceful few days… i almost felt like i’d been to a spa. i have a feeling i will be really good at being a grandma when the time comes.

* i DID miss my darling hank… just look at him sleeping in his donut…
